Private Music Lessons from Experienced Professional Teachers
The Musical Arts Academy of Webster Groves has provided personalized instruction in instrumental music customized for students of all ages and abilities since its inception in 1996. The mission of the Academy begins with musicianship, and includes building understanding of fundamentals of music, the role of music in various eras of history, and the self confidence gained from public performance. The experienced faculty instructors make a commitment to the musical and personal development of each student through building technical proficiency, musical appreciation, reading skills, musicianship, and the ability to perform publicly.
Instruction is offered in piano. Weekly lessons may be scheduled for 30, 45, or 60 minutes duration. The academic year is composed of two eighteen week semesters and one nine week summer session.
Musicianship and self confidence are developed through participation in performance classes, which are available to students at all levels. While participation is optional, students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance skills in performance, as well as in appreciation and evaluation. Participation in performance classes also helps build the self confidence gained by presenting oneself to an audience. These classes are held the third Saturday of each month from October to April. Recitals, which are the culmination of the performance class program, are held the third weekend in May. Additional opportunities to further develop performance experience include participation in ensembles, master classes, auditions, and external competitions.
The Academy is located in the historic Heritage Building at 23 North Gore in Webster Groves. For further information on tuition, policies, and faculty availability, please call the Academy at (314) 918-0200.
