The Musical Arts Academy of Webster Groves has provided personalized instruction in music customized for students of all ages and levels since its inception in 1996. The mission of the Academy begins with musicianship, and includes building understanding of the fundamentals of music, the role of music in various eras of history, and the self confidence gained through performing. An experienced instructor makes a commitment to the musical and personal development of each student by building technical proficiency, musical appreciation, reading skills, musicianship, and the ability to perform publicly.
Instruction is offered in piano. Weekly lessons may be scheduled for 30, 45, or 60 minutes duration. The academic year is composed of two eighteen week semesters and an extended summer session.
Musicianship and self-confidence are developed through participation in performance classes, which are available to students of all ages and levels. While participation is optional, students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to gain skills in performing. Participation in performance classes can help to build the self confidence gained by presenting music to an audience. Performance classes are held the third Saturday of each month from October through April. Additional opportunities may be gained by participating in ensembles, master classes, auditions, and external competition.
The Academy is located in the historic Heritage Building at 23 North Gore in Webster Groves. For further information on tuition, policies, and faculty availability, please call the Academy at (314) 918-0200.
